Services
I offer individual and group tutoring sessions (online) tailored to your unique needs. Whether you need academic support or are looking to excel in an area of interest, I can help you achieve your academic goals.
Approach
My experiences as a student and professor have taught me the importance of internalizing key concepts, cultivating an effective problem solving process, and making connections to the real world. I also value fostering a growth mindset, which celebrates effort and provides mental resilience. These values underpin my tutoring approach: I engage my students with interesting problems, ask them to explain basic principles and articulate their thought process, and provide a safe space for them to learn and grow. With patience and encouragement, I help each student achieve their goals.
I earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and taught engineering for seven years at Dartmouth College. My full credentials are as follows:
* Professional Engineer and Private Tutor, 2018--present
* Assistant Professor of Engineering, Dartmouth College, 2012--2018
- Taught courses in math, fluid mechanics, and aircraft design
* M.S., Ph.D., Postdoc, Mechanical Engineering, MIT, 2004--2012
- Graduate teaching assistant for seven courses
- Wunsch Foundation Outstanding Teaching Award, 2009
* Appalachian Trail 2190-mile thru-hike, 2004
* Design Engineer at Ford Motor Company, 2001--2004
* B.S. Mechanical Engineering (Math minor), Carnegie Mellon U., 2001
As a professional engineer, I use math and physics to create engineering software tools, which I use to design propellers and turbines.
